FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a sales order?

A sales order is the seller's confirmation of a customer's order – the items, quantities, prices, tax and terms – before delivery and invoicing.

Is a sales order the same as an invoice?

No. A sales order confirms the order; the invoice is the bill you raise when you deliver or charge for it.

Can I create a sales order from a quotation?

Yes. Open the quotation and click Generate → Sales Order, or search the quotation's Proposal No. in a new sales order.

Can I add GST to a sales order?

Yes. Choose the tax for each item (for example CGST 9 + SGST 9) and enter its HSN/SAC code.

Can I print or email the sales order?

Yes. Preview, print or download the sales order as a PDF, or send it by email or SMS.

What is the difference between a sales order and a purchase order?

The seller issues a sales order to confirm a customer's order. The buyer issues a purchase order (PO) to place the order. You can record the customer's PO number on your sales order.

What should a sales order format include?

Your company details, the customer's name and address, the sales order number and date, items with quantity, rate, discount, GST and HSN code, totals, payment terms and terms & conditions. Catalystk adds all of these automatically.

Is creating sales orders free in Catalystk?
