A purchase request, also called a purchase requisition, is how your team asks to buy materials before a purchase order is raised. In Catalystk's free procurement software you create a purchase requisition online: add the items, make, type and quantities, set the priority, link the sales order it is for, and send it for purchase approval – the approver can approve or reject it in one click. Purchase request vs purchase order
Two steps of the same buying process.
| Purchase request (requisition) | Purchase order | |
|---|---|---|
| Who creates it | Anyone who needs materials | The purchase team |
| Sent to | Your approver – internal | The supplier – external |
| Has supplier & price terms | Not required | Yes |
| Next step | Approve → purchase order | Goods received note (GRN) |
